WHAT WE DO
We advocate for animals and their welfare; we are the only collective voice in New Zealand that is veterinary-led, science-backed, and independent.
Many factors such as Government, policy, industry bodies, commercial partners/interests, and personal relationships impact animal welfare advocacy. This can lead to animal welfare advocacy being weaker than it ought to be, and can mean slow progress for animals' interests and their welfare.

Veterinarians for Animal Welfare Aotearoa does not capitulate to this dynamic. Using veterinary and animal welfare science, we provide a strong, independent perspective on animal welfare, with strategic solutions to the opportunities and challenges.
OUR TOOLS
Veterinarians for Animal Welfare Aotearoa creates influence through advocacy, submissions, consultancy, education, and collaboration. We provide a unique voice for animals, underpinned by science. VAWA advocacy focuses on all 5 domains of animal welfare, and strives to create “A Good Life."
